Ten years earlier, in 1920, the 8 year old Gordon was living with his grandmother and with his Uncle and Aunt, Wesley & Florence Donovan. Gordon was not in California at the time, being a lodger in the home of Oliver and Grace Griffin in Prescott, Yavapai County, Arizona. He was listed as a white male, age 34 and widowed, and working as a "Clerk of Board, Supervisor." Finally, the listing below is POSSIBLY for Robert and his wife at the time of the 1910 census. The name and age of the head of household is correct, however the birthplace of his mother is shown as California vs. Texas. Additionally Gordon Donovan's subsequent census responses seem to indicate his mother was not born in California, but in either Texas or Canada. Yancey of Port Neches; grandson, James "Hunter" Dore of Groves; and brothers, Richard Bottiger of Utah and Wayne Bottiger of Korea. James was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother, Mrs. A. C. Riley; and mother-in-law, Hazel Clark Yancey. Funeral services were held Monday, May 7, 2012 at Broussard's Morturary chapel in Nederland. He was the first county clerk of Newton county. One of his first duties was to mark the line between Jasper and Newton counties, as will as furnish a table and chairs for the county court. He married thied Harriet Poole Hall, widow of Britt Hall, and she died soon after their marriage. In May of 1855, George, now 70 years of age, and his son Charles Bowman were hauling logs on an ox cart, near the "Wilson Woods place". George had stopped to open a gate and was gored by one of the oxen. His eleven year old son, Charles Bowman, pulled enough logs from the wagon to cover his father and ran for help but George was mortally wounded and there was nothing they could do. The inventory of his estate included his surveying tools and maps, four boxes of books, including "Josephus and Cisero." George also taught school, was a member of the State Legislature and a farmer. After George's tragic death, Joseph Marshall and Charles Bowman were found living with their half sister, Hester Ann, who was married to Asa Lafitte Stark. The whereabouts of Amanda Catherine and Julia Cassandra at that time are unknown. They may have already been married. |

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 2, 1994 at 2:00 pm at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home in San Augustine with burial at Rosevine Cemetery in Sabine County. Services were conducted by Rev. Noel Hammock and Rev. Lou Dane. Mr. Drawhorn had lived for many years in Houston, where he was an Administrator with the Aldine School System. He was born March 9, 1933 and lived in the Rosevine Community with his parents, Eather Parker Drawhorn and the late Ira Drawhorn. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Drawhorn of Houston; two sons, Donnie Dean Drawhorn II and Derek Dayne Drawhorn, both of Houston; two brothers, I.B Drawhorn Jr of Bronson and Joe Parker of Crystal Beach; three sisters, Eva Mae Springer of Louisiana, Juanita Cartwright of San Antonio and Dorothy Cindric of Canton, Ohio; and his mother, Eather Drawhorn of San Augustine. Pallbearers were Bob Wagstaff, Winfred Wright, Joe Cindric, Wendell Eddings, Billy Franks and Billy Rae Ware. Dorothy Lee Woodruff, age 66, passed from this life on earth on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas surrounded by several members of her immediate family. Dorothy was born on August 19, 1952 in San Augustine, Texas to Ira B. (Jr.) Drawhorn and Audrey Lee (Birdwell) Drawhorn. Dorothy was a loving and supportive wife, daughter, sister and aunt. Dorothy attended San Augustine public schools and was a 1972 graduate. She went on to attend Massey Business College in Nacogdoches. Dorothy married the love of her life, John Stephen Woodruff and lived in Houston, Texas from 1977 until her death. John and Dorothy were married 41 years on December 10, 2018. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and loved to be out in nature observing God's creation. She attended the Living Church of God in Cypress, Texas and loved her church family. Nobody had to ask Dorothy about her walk with God '96 it was evident in the way she lived her life. An elder sister, Rosa Louise; a niece, Priscilla Sharpton, and her parents, "Jr" and Audrey Drawhorn, preceded her in death. Dorothy is survived by her husband, John; sister Naomi, Sharpton, sister Glenda Walker, sister Gail Edgar and husband Raymond, sister Eva Weeks and husband James; sister Juanita Ward and Ronnie; several nieces and nephews; beloved aunts and uncles, and cousins. Her church family held a memorial service on December 15, 2018 in Houston, Texas. A private memorial for family and close friends will be held in the spring with burial of the cremains in the family cemetery. Crematory services are under the direction of Wyman Roberts Funeral Home. A special thank you for all the prayers and to Dr. Kanaan (oncologist) and his staff; Cathryn Brown, PA; Dr. Lilit Sargsyan, Dr. Jung, nurse Neal, and other medical staff of Memorial Hermann and St. Lukes Hospitals as well as the team of Harbor Hospice (namely Chioma) who provided excellent care for our sister, friend, neighbor and wife. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Audrey L. Drawhorn; daughter,Rosa Louise; brothers, Curtis Leroy "Buck" Drawhorn and Donnie Drawhorn; and sister, Eva Drawhorn Springer. A celebration of life was held at 11:00 am, Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the Drawhorn Family Cemetery in the Chinquapin Community. Pallbearers were Joshua Brown, David J. Brown, Joey Brown, Stephen Brown, R.W. Walker, Matthew Drawhorn, Benjamin Drawhorn, and Manuel Rodriguez.
