In the fall of 1885 at the age of 11, he came to the United States with his father. The following spring his mother and siblings followed them here. He worked as a hired hand on many farms in the area before settling down on his own farm. (Milligan, p. 480).

(The census listing for this family is very faint, and difficult to read. The family appears to have been living in a large boarding house)
She may have died either in Bohemia, or soon after they arrived in Nebraska.
The Milligan Centennial book listed her date of birth as January 28, 1840. This does not appear to be correct, as her son John Kasak, Jr. born in 1850.
It is noted that the birthdates shown for Jan Kasak's first and second wife, Marie Simacek and Alzbeta "Elizabeth" Cizek, as shown in the Milligan Centennial book, are IDENTICAL. This appears to be in error.
Mike and Mary Simacek came by boat to the United States from their native land of Bohemia in June of 1886, docking in Baltimore, Maryland. From there, they took a train to Nebraska and on the the home of their daughter, Mrs. John KASAK, northeast of Milligan, living near there the rest of their lives. They had two children, Mike, Jr. born in 1846, who married Mary POLAK and a daughter, Marie Simacek, born January 28, 1840 [note this dates is thought to be erroneous], married John A. KASAK, Sr. Mike and his wife Marie are presumed to be buried in unmarked graves in the Kasak Cemetery. (Milligan, p. 481).
She married Joe SLEZAK and they had two children, Ruby and Norman. Joe was killed in a car accident after which Rose married Joe SVAJR. (Milligan, p. 480).
Marritje was baptized 12 October 1632 in the Nieuwkerk (New Church), Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands to Sijmon Floriszen and Claertje Arents. She had four sisters, Lijsbet, Machtelt, Marij (who probably died young), and Jannetje, and three brothers, Floris, Arent (who probably died young), and Arent.
She seems to have arrived from the Netherlands as an indentured servant to Pieter Pietersen Harder "in the city of New Amstel, on the South River". Evert Pels, the husband of her sister Jannetje, paid for the remainder of her indenture in 19 February 1659.
The Cools lived in Wildwyck (now Kingston, Ulster, New York) where he worked for Juriaen Westfael, a farmer, and Marritje also worked, probably as a laundress. They moved to New Amsterdam (New York City) in 1667, where Jacob became a "porter in the Weigh house" and a "beer and wine carrier" like his father. By 1689, they had returned to Ulster County, where Jacob took an oath of allegiance.

She came to the United States with her family in 1884, settling near Morse Bluff in Saunders County. They moved to Fillmore County in 1901. Ten children were born to her parents, Frantisek SIMIC and Ruzena BURES. Her siblings, as noted in the obituary of her father, were: Frank, John, Emil, Albert, Joseph and Agnes, who later married a McNichols of Carlteon. (Milligan, p 335).
Hilda Stickley Benkelman shows he was born on 24 June 1921, wheras the SSDI, presumably transcribed correctly from the application that Carl filled out himself, shows 24 June 1919. Art Peck also shows his year of birth as 1919.
The daughter of Joseph Sutton Simmons and Sarah E. Blunt. Her parents owned a steamboat, she she was named Vashaba for a Red River Steamboat Captain's wife who was a good friend to her parents. (Wynama McGrew, p. 297.)

Mrs. Bryan was born March 1, 1923 in Shreveport to David and Dessie Simmons. She went to be with her Lord, June 25, 2007 after a lengthy illness. She and her husband, Johnny, were co-owners of Bryan's Jewelers for over 40 years. Mrs. Bryan was a loving and devoted wife and mother, a wonderful cook and homemaker. Happiness for her was in doing for others. She loved to sing and play the organ and is now singing praises to her precious Lord Jesus. She will be greatly missed.
Della is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, John W. Bryan, son, Michael Bryan, daughter-in-law, Dorothy Bryan, four sisters and one brother.
Left to cherish her memories is her son, Pat Bryan and wife Kay, of Shreveport, LA; daughter, Jon Dell Moore and husband John Earl, of Mooringsport, LA; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandsons. "We Love You The Most, Mom".

Notes rec'd from Buck McLemore Friday 11 July 2003
(Courtesy of Melba Gene McLemore)
Notes were written 27 Sept 1982
We visited with Lessie McDavid and her son today. Lessie is 83 years old. She is active and bright. She could remember seeing Buck's father. She said he was a very handsome man. He was rather short , dark hair and eyes- She said , he lived with them 1 year and helped her father make a crop-
She remembers her grandmother very well. She said Texanna (her grandmother) spent some time visiting and helping her mother after she had a child, which was quite often. Her Mother, Lee Simpson, had 12 more children, about 2 years apart. There were two sets of twins, including Lessie and her twin brother Lester.
Things she remembers about Texanna She had dark hair and eyes- She wore a real pretty black and white check apron most of the time with white embrodery- at night she would take off her apron and sleep with it covering her head.
She remember her grandmother, Mother and herself visiting with Texanna's brother that lived in McDade, a Baker. Texanna sometimes stayed with her brother.
Texanna supported herself after the hanging, by nursing sick people and staying with ladies after child birth .
She did remarry once after Thad was hung- the marriage didn't work out and she is listed as Texanna McLemore on her gravestone. She is buried at Crisp, Texas. She spent a lot of time at Bud and Anna's house.
Lessie said she liked her grandmother but some of her brothers didn't because she would tell on them. She remembered her grandfather (Thad) was noted for making beautiful spurs - he was in the process of making her father a pair of spurs when he was hanged.
She said her mother and grand mother wouldn't talk of the hanging. her Father, Mr. Simpson told the children not to say anything about the hangings to their mother.
Her mother's name was Lee, Margie Lee. She was four years of age when the hanging occurred. Lottie was some younger than Lee and Romy was the youngest.
She said all that she knew about the hanging was from her Aunt ( a sister to Texanna), who lived I believe in Elgin. She said Mrs. McLemore (Texanna )had told her that Mr. ( Thad) McLemore had gone to McDade on Christmas Eve and had taken a flour sack with him to put presents in. And he didn't come back home that night, so the next morning she sent Bud to town, and she was holding Lottie when she saw Bud coming toward the house beating at the horse to to go faster, and she knew something bad had happened, and she stood up and let Lottie fall. And she started yelling the vigilantes have gotten him.

Not with his parents at the time of either the 1920 or 1930 census, he was probably already married.
There is a listing for a Willie R. Simpson, age 32, in Electra, Wichita County, Texas as of the 1930 census. Also living in his household were 33 year old Susie Simpson, 14 year old Arbie Simpson, 9 year old Claudine Simpson, and Wanda O Simpson, age 1 month. This is likely, but not proven, to be the same Willie R. Simpson.

In A.C. Sims' memoirs of the Civil War, he tells that he joined up with General Hood's Texas Regiment in Georgia after the death of this twin brother, Hub in Arkansas. His elder brother, Tom, was an officer in the Confederate Army. A.C. suffered much illness during the period he was in Georgia. Upon the end of the fighting, he returned home to East Texas where he was a teacher and later a Baptist Minister.
He first married Rachell Segrest, and on the 1870 Tyler County census, they were living in the home of Rachell's father, Jacob Segrist. About 3 months after the birth of Apless Arabella, Rachell died, leaving A.C. with 5 children under the age of 10. He later married Fannie Allen, and they had 5 more children.
His last will and testament was very simple:
State of Texas Jasper, Jasper County 21 January 1903
To all whom it may concern: Know by these prescence that it is my will that my beloved wife F.A. Sims after my decease shall retain full possession of all that is called mine as a means of support until her death provided, however, she remains single. In the event that she should marry again or die, all properties in anywise belonging to me be equally divided between my ten children. Written with mine own hand this 21 day of January A.D. 1903.
A.C. Sims

A copy of his actual Texas Death Certificate can be viewed online at FamilySearch.org, Texas Deaths, 1890-1976. He is shown as the son of Merbus Elmoore Sims and Margarette E. Qualls, being born in Whitney, Texas, and his usual occupation was.that of a carpenter in the construction industry. He was shown as married, and a resident of Dallas, living at 9227 Bluecrest. The informant was Mary E. Sims, his wife. He was buried at Laurel Land Cemetery, Cave-Smith were in charge of the arrangements.
He was said to be the son of Mann SIMS and Margaret McGRUDER. His first wife was an ANN, and they were said to be the parents of John, Frances Evelyn, Augustus "Gus", Martha and one other female.
MARJORIE SINCLAIR WOODS passed away peacefully in her sleep on the evening of Tuesday, 3rd of August 2010. Marjorie was born in June, 1908 to Thomas Albert Sinclair and wife, Mary Ella. She was raised in the Heights, on the Boulevard, where she attended Cooley School, and both Heights High and Reagan High Schools, while later attending and graduating from Texas Christian University in the early 30s.
Her father, Thomas Albert, was the founder and builder of Heights Hospital that stood and served the people of the area on the corner of 19th and Ashland Avenue. This hospital was later torn down, rebuilt again on the same location, still serving the people of the area as "Heights Hospital." Marjorie worked as a nurse at her father's hospital, and later she taught shorthand at a business college "downtown", where she amazingly met and was attracted to a man named Lyndon Johnson, a debating coach/teacher at the school, who, to the relief of her father, was soon off to Washington.
Later she would meet and wed a young doctor who was working at her father's hospital, having two children, Ann and Bill, who grew up in the then new addition of "Garden Oaks", while World War II raged overseas.Marjorie very much enjoyed the game of "Bridge" with her friends, and was quite active in the women's organization of the PEOs her entire life.
Her daughter, Ann Synnott, met and married a young lumberman named Fagan Arnold Cox, having four children, Keith, the eldest, daughter Shari, and sons David and Tom Cox. Keith, living now in Philadelphia with wife Melanie, have three children, son Carter, a student at Vanderbuilt, a daughter Clemens, a student at the University of California in Los Angeles, and the youngest of the three, daughter Calloway , now in high school. Tom Cox and wife Nan have four children, three girls, Katie, Elizabeth, and the youngest, Ann Grace, and son Burrus, who live in Nashville, Tennessee. David Cox and wife Joan live in Houston, continuing the father's lumber business. They have three beautiful children, two boys, Christy, the eldest, Trenton, a student at Lamar, and daughter Margo. These ten new members of the family, the great grandchildren of Marjorie, are the future, earning her the title "Great Mother" to all of those who most dearly love her.
Marjorie is survived as well by son-in-law Conway Hall, a businessman in Houston, married now to Marjorie's daughter Ann. Marjorie also is survived by her brother, Thomas A. Sinclair II and his wife, Lucille of Kerrville, Texas.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o'clock until eight o'clock in the evening on Friday, the 6th of August, at Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston. The interment service is to be conducted at half past ten o'clock in the morning on Saturday, the 7th of August, at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Avenue in Houston, where the Rev. Reagan Cocke, Associate Rector, of Church of St. John the Divine is to officiate. In lieu of flowers and customary remembrances, donations may be directed to any charity of one's choice.
