Linda Jean Priefert was born to Neil & Jean (Bernasek) Priefert on February 21, 1961 in York, Nebraska. She passed away on July 6, 2023 in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 62 years, some months and a bunch of days surrounded by Lindsey, Danielle and Leslie. Linda gave her cancer one hell of a ride; however, tricked the beast and slipped quietly to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Linda was raised in rural Fairmont, Nebraska with her three sisters, Mary, Carol & Susan. She graduated from Fairmont High School with the class of 1979. A proud Fairmont Tiger, Linda loved her time as a cheerleader and baton twirler, a skill she would carry into her professional life as she later became named as Ms. Fairmont at a clerk convention. As she continued through her adult life, she held her Fairmont alums as dear friends and was always proud to be a FHS Tiger.
On a hot day on July 11,1981, Linda was united in marriage to Dave Carroll in Fairmont, NE. To this union three daughters were born: Lindsey, Danielle and Leslie. Motherhood quickly became Linda's greatest achievement. She was "Mama Linda" to many kids in surrounding communities and loved them like her own.
She was a fearless leader of Girl Scouts, active softball coach, Fillmore Central Teammates supporter, dedicated FFA booster & 4-H mom. She thoroughly enjoyed supporting her daughters in activities, especially show choir and marching band. The friendships that Linda formed with other mothers during this time were friendships she carried throughout her entire life. Linda's antics at the National FFA convention won't soon be forgotten.
The majority of Linda's career was spent as Village Clerk of Fairmont for 28 years. She found great joy in serving her fellow community members. Throughout her tenure she attended many conferences, welcomed new clerks with open arms and gained life-long friends. While employed full time, Linda earned her Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Management in 2014 from Concordia University, something she took great pride in accomplishing. The capstone of her career was when she was named the USDA Rural Development Clerk of Nebraska in 2017. All those that ever called the Fairmont Village Office can still hear her chirpy voice greet you with, "Fairmont Village Hall, this is Linda".
As life continued, Linda and Dave parted ways, knowing they had given the best of themselves to their daughters. Linda married Kirby Zuerlein on June 16, 2018 in Kearney, NE. Attending worship services in Guide Rock, NE and enjoying meals with friends were important throughout their union.
Linda was an active member of the Fairmont community including the Legion Auxiliary, Community Club and Women's Club. A meeting in Fairmont, NE wasn't a meeting without Linda's voice. She was an active member of the Fairmont Community Church, teaching Sunday school and proudly singing in the church choir. She especially enjoyed her time with the United Methodist Women and her Kid's Rock kids.
Linda will be remembered for being a friend to all, having a bigger than life personality and being just enough EXTRA to make each day with her an adventure.
Linda is preceded in death by her grandparents Elmer & Margaret Priefert and James & Alba Bernasek; parents Neil & Jean Priefert; great aunt Mollie Pope; aunt Vivian Loge; uncle Bob Baker; father-in-law & mother-in-law Bob & Carol Carroll; brother-in-law Kevin Carroll; Kansas parents Leon & Donna Riffel.
She is survived by her daughters Lindsey Carroll of Lincoln, NE, Danielle (Dakota) Cooper of York, NE, Leslie Carroll of Fairmont, NE; husband Kirby Zuerlein of Red Cloud, NE; grandsons Dominic, Derek & Dusty of York, NE; beloved grandpup Charles of Fairmont, NE; sisters Mary (Dana) Scott of York,NE, Carol (David) Priefert of Centennial, WY, Susan (Brandon) Priefert of Sisters, OR; aunt Wilma Baker of Norfolk, NE; Scott boys & families, Carroll kids & families, Baker cousins, Riffel cousins and many family friends.
A Memorial Service for Linda will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the Fairmont Community Church in Fairmont, Nebraska with Pastor Monica Magoola & Lay Pastor Michelle Lessard presiding.
A Book Signing will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva, Nebraska.
Burial of Ashes will be held following the Memorial Service in the Fairmont Public Cemetery in Fairmont, Nebraska.

Neil E. Priefert passed away on January 27, 2019. He was born on the South Place, west of Fairmont, Nebraska on April 24, 1929 to Elmer G. and Margaret E. (Boren) Priefert. He attended two different country schools near the farm and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1947. Neil met Jean Bernasek at "Ye Old Corral" roller skating rink in Geneva and they were married September 5, 1954 at Geneva's United Brethern Church. Neil and Jean were married for 63 years.
Four daughters; Mary, Carol, Linda and Susan, made this family complete.
Neil made his decision to farm and care for the land when his dad offered college funds or a tractor to Neil and his two sisters. His sisters went to college and Neil chose the tractor.
Neil served in the National Guard with his unit being called into active stateside duty in 1955 at Ft. Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was then stationed at Ft. Riley in Junction City, Kansas. In the 1960's it was guard buddies and their families that would come spend the weekend at the farm for 'personal guided pheasant hunts'.
The registered Polled Hereford herd began with animals purchased on a farm sale. At the time, the number of cows were dependent upon what would fit on the 40 acres of pasture on the home place. Of course, the pasture first had to provide for the 4 milk cows that were standard farm features in the 50's.
As with many young farm families, gifts are farm oriented. The young couple received a monetary gift from her parents for a clothes washer. Instead of a washer, this couple bought a cow. The year was 1957.
Social activities in West Blue Township in those days consisted of neighborhood card parties with plenty of snacks, conversation and laughter. The girls learned to dance on Neil's shoes at the Milligan Auditorium to the tunes played by Leonard Becwar's band.
Sunday dinner guests weren't relatives, they were the fieldmen for the Polled Hereford World. Family vacation destinations were not theme parks or the beach, it was wherever the tour was that year in Nebraska or Kansas. Women and kids in one vehicle, dads in another. (Looking back upon that arrangement, it was only Neil that got a vacation.) When the fences needed painting and the yard needed to be spruced up there would be no vacation, it was time to host a tour stop. Neil and his family made many enduring friendships through these networks, with the family circle extending to include the Kansas cousins.
Neil served as an assistant 4-H leader when the girls were active in "Keep 'Em Growing" 4-H club and actively supported his daughters as they traveled with the judging teams, showing 4-H calves at area events and Junior Nationals around the country. He served on the Fairmont co-op Board, Fillmore County Noxious Weed Board for 30 years, and the Nebraska Polled Hereford Association, serving as a Director and Vice-President on the board for many years. He was a member of the Nebraska Hereford Association and Exeter Feeders and Breeders Association, serving on its board as well. He was a member of the Fairmont Community Church, making certain the girls got to Sunday School and sang in Nancy Jo's children's choir when it was known as Grace Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Fairmont American Legion.
Neil was preceded in death by his parents; sister Vivienne Loge; and brother-in-law Robert D. Baker.

Mr. Earnest Ray Procella of Orange, Texas passed away on April 01, 2023, at his grandson's home in Orange. He was 91. Funeral services will be at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be one of Mr. Procella's grandsons, Pastor Michael Procella, and one of Mr. Procella's students from Cove, Pastor Charles Miller.
Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 8 at Claybar Funeral Home. Earnest was born on January 14, 1932, in Hemphill, Texas. He was the fifth son of Henry and Marcelena (Parrie) Procella.
Altogether, the couple had six boys and no girls. Earnest's dad died of pneumonia when he was just four years old. His mother later remarried and had one more boy. Earnest loved all his brothers and especially his mother. She often said to her boys, "We don't fight with each other. We fight for each other." He loved growing up in East Texas where life was simple and fun. Earnest graduated in 1949 from Hemphill High School where he played football and basketball.
He would have played baseball too if the school would have had a team. After high school, he did play baseball for two semi-pro teams in East Texas: one was in Milam and the other was in San Augustine. He also worked for one of his older brothers by carrying blocks of ice around Hemphill. From 1951 to 1953, Earnest served in the United States Army. This was during the Korean War. After his service to the military was fulfilled, he played some more baseball for a minor league team in Dothan, Alabama. At the time, this team was affiliated with the St. Louis Cardinals, from whom he received an invitation to play. But he turned it down and opted to move back home because he missed his momma's cooking, especially her pinto beans.
Upon moving back to East Texas, he married Mary Bernice Bourghs. Together, they had three sons. Amid raising a family, Earnest went to Stephen F. Austin State College where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1959 and a Master of Education in 1964. After graduating from SFA in 1959, Earnest moved his family to Orange where he took his first school job at Cove. He later coached and taught at West Orange and for the Little Cypress ? Mauriceville school district. He retired after the 1989-1990 school year, thus working thirty years as a teacher and a coach all in the Orange area. Even though Earnest was of retirement age, he retired earlier than he had planned to help his second wife, June Roy, take care of her father in Bridge City. While living in Bridge City, Earnest would run over the Rainbow Bridge and back for exercise. Earnest remained physically fit and active his entire life until the last year of his life due to dementia.
Earnest was a longtime member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. He also went with his second wife to her church, First Christian Church of Orangefield, until her passing in 1994, as well as to his eldest grandson's churches in the Orange area: Hartburg Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of West Orange. Earnest confessed faith in Jesus Christ. Earnest lived in the Cypress Bayou condos for about thirty years. While there, in addition to walking his longtime little dog, Sambo, and taking care of the yardwork and everybody's garbage cans on trash day, he made invaluable friends who were all about his age. One of whom would go with him to all the sports games across the street at LCM High School. Earnest also met regularly with a group of his friends from Hemphill who all moved down to the Southeast Texas area, as well as with some of his former students and colleagues from his days as a teacher and coach.
Earnest also supported all his grandkids in all their extra-curricular activities by attending every function. Earnest had Native American ancestry and was a member of the Choctaw-Apache Tribe of Ebarb, a state-recognized tribe in Louisiana. All in all, Earnest was a kind, gentle, sweet man who was laid-back and easygoing. He was a simple man who loved his family, loved his friends, loved his students, and loved sports. He was beloved by all.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Marcelena Procella, as well as his wife, June Procella. He is survived by his sons, Michael Ray Procella and wife, Tommilyn, Ernest Glenn Procella and wife, Millie, and Barry Paul Procella and wife, Terri; grandchildren, Michael Procella and wife, Emilee, April Thompson and husband, Wesley, Erica Arnold and husband, Wesley, Landon Procella and wife, Emily, Jared Wagnon and wife, Amanda, and Jenna Procella; eight great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Jennifer Guidry and husband, Kent, and Jeff Roy and wife, Leah; step-grandchildren, Drek Guidry and wife, Amber, Lindsay Davis and husband, Session, Brooke Chambless and husband, Clint, Reid Guidry and wife, Evan, and Jeslyn Sabol and husband, Will; and twelve step-great-grandchildren; brothers Eugene Procella, Billy Brad Lankford and wife, Donna; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Procella, Glenn Procella, Barry Procella, Michael Procella, Landon Procella, Carson Sauceda, and Sky Thompson. Honorary pallbearers are his surviving brothers, grandsons-in-law, and his former players and students. The family would like to thank Montebello Home Care, especially caregiver Millissa Carter, as well as all the staff of Southeast Texas Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mr. Earnest Ray Procella's grandson's church, First Baptist Church of West Orange, where grandson Michael plans on using said contributions to start a nonprofit organization in his grandfather's name and honor that raises awareness about dementia. Write "Earnest" on the Memo line of your checks sent to First Baptist Church of West Orange, 608 Dayton Street, Orange, Texas 77630. To his sons: Daddy. To his grandkids: Paw Paw. To his students: Coach. To family and friends: Earnie.
