Nan located a copy of a deed from the Heirs of Daniel Morgan to John McLemore. The heirs were deeding the "160 acres of land granted by the state of Texas to said Daniel Morgan by Patent No. 550, Vol 41, and dated Feb 3, 1874 said 160 acres being community property of said Daniel and Mary Morgan to John McLemore." This deed was dated May 1886.
The heirs listed, "being the only surviving heirs of said decedents....(were) James Morgan, Elizabeth Jones, Owen Morgan, heirs at law....(and also) the following named persons who are the grandchildren of the said decedents, viz: J.F. The state of birth are listed in error as Georgia, whereas the Morgan's were actually all born in North Carolina.
Daniel and Mary's two oldest children had left home prior to the above census. Son James was already in Jasper County, Texas, listed as a laborer in the home of 74 year old Elijah ISAACS of South Carolina. Elijah ISAACS is said to be the son of Samuel ISAACS and Mary MORGAN of Lincoln Co., TN; Pendleton Co, S.C, Wilkes Co, N.C. and Lincoln Co, TN.
Daughter Sarah, along with her husband John McLemore, lived two households away (516/516) from her parents in Decatur County. Also living nearby was Daniel's nephew, Malachi Morgan.
The family moved westward, as in 1860, they could be found in Jasper County, Texas:

Ruby Boyett Burkett reports that two of Daniel and Mary's two youngest daughters, Elizabeth and Dorcus, stayed behind in Georgia. Both of them were widowed during the Civil War, and they journeyed from Georgia to Texas by boat. Daniel met the boat in Galveston, taking his daughters and grandchildren back to Jasper by wagon. Daniel himself was widowed at the time of the 1870 Federal census, and can be found living with this daughter Elizabeth Jones:

No one of this age was enumerated in the home of Daniel Morgan at the time of the 1840 census.
Listed as Daniel, age 12 in 1850.
Listed as David, age 22, a Domestic, in 1860.
Can not locate on the 1870 or subsequent census reports.
Not listed as an heir of Daniel Morgan in 1886. Did he die before 1886?
At the time of the 1860 census, Duncan Morgan (Daniel's brother) had two young men with the last name of Morgan listed as "Domestics" in his home. Nan McCoy Kittell says these two family members were actually slaves, and not family members Could the same be true for this Daniel/David Morgan? Maybe this is why he is not listed with the family after the Civil War, and also why he is not listed as a heir.
Daphna L. Morgan, the oldest daughter, was born in Call, Texas, and moved to Nederland with her parents in 1923. She graduated from Nederland High School in 1930, and in 1932, she married E. J. In her letter dated 12 September 1999, Jo Ann Lee Gartig writes that "Kenneth (Morgan) has asked me to pass on to you the information which he learned at the Morgan cemetery off the road to Roganville. This small square of land, surrounded by upright concrete posts with two strands of clothesline wire strung through them to provide a fence, is located on the back boundary of property now owned by an elderly gentleman named Leroy Walker. Mr. Walker did not know much about the history of the cemetery or the people in it, but he did say there was an Indian there. This might be Mary Morgan, wife of Daniel...The "rights" to the cemetery belong to W.D. "Bill" Morgan, and 83 year old man living in Orange, Texas. Bill Morgan keeps the cemetery cleaned. The cemetery has one double headstone which reads:
Duncan Morgan 6-08-1806 5-26-1881 Elizabeth Morgan 7-24-1816 4-12-1903
There were also seven ironstone rocks marking other graves.
In searching for this cemetery, Kenneth had stopped at houses along the road to ask about its locality. At the third house he came to, he learned from Mr. J.F. Ferguson that Kenneth's ancestors property was just up the road on Everitts Creek where the ancestor had once had a gristmill. This is how Kenneth met Mr. Walker and was shown the cemetery.
This cemetery by-the-way, is located on the headright of M.L. Morgan.
In a postscript to the letter dated 13 September 1999, Jo Ann adds that she called Bill Morgan at his home. He is the one responsible for placing the headstone for Duncan and Elizabeth Morgan in the "old Morgan cemetery" near Roganville. Unfortunately, he does not know about any of the other graves. He seemed to remember that a young boy was buried there. After I related the story of Dorcus Morgan Lee's youngest son Elias Banto (Lee) having bled to death after cutting his foot as a young teen, he recalled that his father had told that story also. It seems that the boy was at the grist mill on Everitts Creek which borders the land where the cemetery is when the accident happened. Whether this boy was Elias Banto Lee or not we will probably never know.

Nan stated that both family tradition and the Jasper 1860 census indicate that two member's of the Morgan family listed in 1850 and 1860 were actually slaves rather than children: G.W. age 18, and Joseph age 17, both listed as being "domestics." It is noted that neither were still living with the family after the Civil War.

Isaac and Sarah had one more daughter that I know of, E. A. Morgan, born about 1873, who was living with her maternal grandfather, Lemuel May, on the 1880 census in Florida, Jefferson, E.D. 6, Precinct 8, page 16.
At the time of the 1920 census, the widow was living with three of her daughters, Cloa, Bertie and Lottie, and her 7 year old grandson Daren. It is not know whose son Daren was. Bertie appeared to be the only family member that was employed at the time the census was taken. She was listed as a sales lady at a retail store.
Said by some to have been born in Surry County, NC, but no proof cited. This seems unlikely as the family was listed in Sampson County as of the 1830 census.
Carolyn Lockhart wrote that after the death of Sion Jones in Georgia "Elizabeth sold her land in Decatur County (ca 1868) and came to Texas. She and [her widowed sister] Dorcas Lee had about 9 children with them. Someone met them in Galveston and it was the first time she had ever seen an iron cook stove. She instructed her kids not to mention their Indian ancestry. She herself never mentioned it even though she always wore fringes on her dresses to remind her own self of her heritage. She was 61 when she died, never remarried and never filed a pension from Sion Jones CSA record."
In a letter from Carolyn Lockhart, she states that Elizabeth died in the home of her oldest son, Newton B. Jones. Like the Morgan's, the Jones family were also of Welsh ancestry. The Hawthorne family were neighbors in Georgia and also in Jasper County.
Ruby Boyett showed she died in 1897, but this can not be correct as (1) she had a daughter born in 1899 (2) she can be found on the 1900 census with her husband and children and (3) her tombstone is said to be inscribed 13 Dec 1902.
Said by Jeanie Trimble & Ed Webb to have married Joshua James Blanton IV. Elizabeth and Joshua had a very large family in Shady Grove, Taylor County, Florida.

Services for Kenneth Morgan, 79, of Jasper were held Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper with burial following at Olds Cemetery.
Kenneth died Monday, February 9, 2009 at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital. A native, and lifelong resident of Jasper, he loved History and wrote for the Jasper Newsboy for over 15 years, he also wrote for the Buna, Kirbyville and Woodville papers. He wrote his book called Morgan's East Texas Tales around 1997. He loved his family and enjoyed working with wood and building all kinds of wooden things. He loved to play and sing music, playing at nursing homes every Friday. He played the guitar, banjo and keyboard. He was a WWII U. S. Army Veteran.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Dorthy Sunday Morgan of Jasper, two daughters Deborah Morgan and Laura Clark both of Jasper, sister, Judy Morgan of Jasper, four grandchildren, Brent Crowson, Shawn Crowson, Morgan West, and Heather Goodman, six great grandchildren, Megan Crowson , Kenneth Crowson, Cambria Crowson, Colby Goodman, Cierra Farmer and Tamika Lawson.
In 1910, he was living in Sabine County in the home of the Sarah C BOYETT, age 59, the widow of Philip BOYETT. He was not located on either the 1920 or 1930 census.
Helen Ruth Morgan was born to Winnie Ora Davidson Morgan (USPS Post Master in Bronson, TX) and Jesse Monroe Morgan (owner of the only Texaco gas station in Bronson) on August 6 1926 in Bronson, Texas and passed away in West Point, Texas on August 19. 2015. She was their only child.
Ms. Morgan attended Bronson High School, there, she met Milton Carroll Johnson and in 1946 they married. Helen was married two other times but passed away a happy single woman. She spent her last 16 years in companionship with her dearest friend and roommate, Mary Jo Brown. They had become known around West Point as "Thelma and Louise." They were always ready to go dancing or to watch their favorite football teams (Cowboys and Longhorns). Laughter was their trademark.
Ms. Morgan received her Registered Nurse (RN) degree in the Army Corp during the final days of World War II. She was on the front lines during the tragic 1947 Texas City explosions and fires that devasted their community.
Her children are Carroll Monroe Johnson (deceased), with the surviving children being Dwayne (Butch) Edward Johnson of San Antonio, Tx, Ronald (Pete) Anthony Johnson of West Point, TX, and her only daughter Sydna Johnson of West Point, TX, along with 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
May she rest in peace with a smile on her lips, laughter in her heart, and dances in her step.

James appears to have been the trailblazer in the family. In 1850, he was already in Jasper County, Texas, while his parents and siblings were still in Decatur County, Georgia. He was listed as a laborer in the home of 74 year old Elijah ISAACS, born in South Carolina. The rest of the family arrived after James, moving to Jasper sometime prior to the 1860 census. Elijah ISAACS is said to be the son of Samuel ISAACS of Lincoln Co., TN; Pendleton Co, S.C, Wilkes Co, N.C. and Lincoln Co, TN. He was a twin, his brother being Elisha ISAACS. He was married to Esther Donaho. Steve Moody, a descendant of Elijah ISAACS, wrote me that "Elija Isaacks' mother was Mary Morgan, daughter of Joseph Morgan Jr. I've never been able to figure out how James was related, I thought maybe he was a cousin."
A website with more about the ISAACS family can be found at: http://www.geocities.com/astromood/ISAACKSc.html

Floyd Boyett sent an email, dated April 2, 2006, with the following information about the Military service of James Morgan:
"The family is on the indigent list for Jasper Co., James is the only James (or J. M.) Morgan on the 1860 Jasper census and the only James (or J. M.) Morgan on the 1870 Jasper census. Also found James M. Morgan, son of Daniel and Mary, listed in "Civil War Soldiers of Jasper and Newton Counties of Texas" published by Ericson Books of Nacogdoches, Texas. Also found J. Morgan on the Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System web site that was in the 13th Texas Calvary, Burnett's Regiment. I think we can safely say this is our man. He has no Confederate headstone."

Joan O'Banion and Laura Buckmaster show that he married first Mary A. Allen, on 9 May 1868. She appears to have died or left prior to his marriage to Mary Jane Nantz in December 1868.
As of the 1880 census, it appears that Jesse was living as a boarder in Jasper, and working for the Railroad. It appears his future wife, Mary Walters, was living in the same home.

Joe Patrick Morgan went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 27. He was born November 12, 1974 in Orange to Carl and Patsy Jo Morgan and grew up in Jasper. Joe attended Lamar University in Beaumont where he met his loving wife, Jaimie Humphreys. After their marriage in 2002, Joe took a position with Edward Jones Investments in Atlanta, Ga. and Pensacola, Fla. and became a successful Investment Representative. Joe and Jaimie celebrated the births of their daughters, Skylar Joanne in 2004 and Carlee Ruth in 2006. Joe was a man who lived life to the fullest and brought joy and laughter to all who knew him.
His precious "Granny," Patsy Ruth Norman of Vidor preceded Joe in death. He is survived by his wife and daughters he adored, Jaimie Humphreys Morgan, Skylar Joanne Morgan, and Carlee Ruth Morgan of Pace; a son, Carson Martindale of Jasper; his grandfather, Joe C. Norman of Vidor; his father, Carl Morgan, Jr. of Jasper; his mother, Patsy Jo ("PJ") Norman of Vidor; his sisters, Chantel (Mike) Smith of Cape Cod, Mass.; and Michelle Morgan of Nederland; his cousin, Stephen Carl (Nancy) Morgan of Jasper; nephews Hudson Smith and Grayson Morgan; nieces Morgan Smith, Margaret Smith, Patience Morgan, Taylor Morgan, and Lauren Morgan; Ric and Nancy Humphreys, Richard Humphreys, Jr., and Jenny Humphreys of Pace, Fla. Quincy Martindale with the Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 601 West Gibson, Jasper will perform the funeral services. Today, Wed., Aug. 2 from 4 -5 p.m. at Forest Oaks Chapel, followed by the burial service. Internment will be at the Jasper Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Randall Ebarb, Pat Hardy, Michael Broussard, Carl Morgan, Cory Lathern and Jimmy Ellis. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request that donations be made at any branch of Bank of America to the special account for Jaimie, Skylar and Carlee Morgan.

A similar obituary was in the August 2, 2006 Sabine County Reporter. His eldest son was referred to as Carson MONROE, however, and not as Carson MARTINDALE.
John was said to have died in South Carolina before his family moved to Georgia. However, since he was married in Georgia he probably actually died after the move to Georgia, but before the family moved on to Texas and Florida. It appears that he did die prior to the 1840, because his widow, Hannah Morgan is listed as the head of household in the "1840 Decatur County Georgia Census Index " (Frances T. Ingmire, Mountain Press).
John's five children, along with a 28 year old "Mrs. Morgan," are listed in the 1850 Decatur County, GA census in household #521. They live nearby to the McLemores, Boyetts, Morgans, and Kellys. It appears that John may have remarried, as his apparent widow, age 28, was too young to be the mother of any but the very youngest of his five children, who ranged in age from 14 to 23. This potential second wife would have been born circa 1822.
The online Decatur County, Georgia census for 1850 lists the family as follows:

At the time of the 1880 census, Josephine was living with John McLemore, the husband of her deceased Aunt, Sarah Morgan. She was listed as 14 year old Josephine Wilson, presumably having been adopted by her mother's second husband.
Kenneth Morgan reported that his grandfather, Thomas Marion Morgan, loved his "Uncle Mal" and spent much time in his household when he was growing up. He said Mal was a sleepwalker, and the boys tried to watch out for him at night to prevent him from getting hurt. Early one morning, Mal asked the boys to go with him to their field across the creek to bring a turning plow back to the garden. When they arrived at the field the plow was missing, and they began to study tracks closely in the plowed ground. They found Mal's barefoot tracks where he had picked up the plow and walked across the creek on a log. Arriving back at the garden near the house they found the plow. Mal remembered nothing about the trip in the moonlight.

Melba A. Morgan, the second daughter, was born in Magnolia Springs, Texas, moved to Nederland with her parents, and graduated from Nederland High School in 1935. She worked for Bedford F. Pace, M. D., and Burnett H. Hall, D. D. S., between 1940 and 1945. She married Raymond Hawkins, also of Nederland, on March 4, 1945, and since their marriage, they have continued to make their home in Nederland. They are the parents of two sons and two grandsons. Melba Morgan Hawkins still has fond recollections of going to the old J. H. McNeill grocery at 1154 Boston Avenue with her father to pay the grocery bill on payday, and of receiving a generous bag of candy as a gift, or lagniappe as the French would call it.

A 49 year old Millard B. Morgan, born in Texas with a father reported to be born in the US and mother in Virginia, was an Attendant at the Abilene State Hospital in Taylor County, Texas. He was listed as being married at the age of 22. None of his family appeared to be present, and he was apparently boarding at the hospital. This may or may not be the same Millard Harrison Morgan of Jasper County, Texas.

It appears she may have never married, living with her older sister Mary and younger brother Robert for some twenty years after her parents died. She was not listed with either of them after 1920, however, so she may have either married late in life, or died sometime prior to 1930.
Her middle name is sometimes instead shown as Eppaline or Effaline.
A digital image of her actual Texas Death certificate is viewable online at FamilySearch.org, Texas Deaths, 1890-1976. At the time of death she was widowed and with a home address 202 South Bell Street in Bellville, Tx. Her occupation was listed as Housewife, and her parents were shown as Ivan Morgan and Melissa Westbrook. The informant was her daughter, Mrs. Eura/Euna Bailey.
His name was listed on the Decatur GA census EXTRACT as Oliver, in error.
Carolyn Lockhart wrote that it was her understanding that Owen had never been married. Jo Ann Lee Gartig concurred, writing that "In following Owen through all the census records from GA to TX, I do not believe that Owen ever married because he was mentally retarded in some way. Decatur Co, 1850 Owen was 16 (and it read "Owen" on that microfilm because that is how I copied it before I ever saw "Oliver" on your paper). Jasper County census of 1860 Owen is 24 and listed as "domestic." 1870 Jasper County census clearly listed Owen, 38 as "idiot." 1880 Jasper County census shows Owen, 45, single, and brother to Dorcus. Ruby Boyett Burkett wrote that Owen was able to help his father with farming, so was not likely retarded. She understood that he did suffer seizures of some sort, and never married.
Owen Morgan, 79, of Jasper died June 19 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Funeral services were held June 22 at Forest Oaks Funeral Home with burial following at Magnolia Springs Cemetery.
Survivors include wife Mildred Morgan of Jasper; sons Jeff Morgan of Jasper and Michael Morgan of Lufkin; brother Kenneth Morgan and sister Judy Morgan, both of Jasper and one grandchild.
According to Edward Webb's WorldConnect "North Florida Webbs..." Tree, he also appears to have had on daughter, Bethany Parthenia Morgan, born on 10 July 1828 in Screven County, Georgia. This was prior to his marriage to Martha Ann Williams however. It appears this date of birth was probably in error, as Perthena was listed as age 12 in 1850.
She may have died young, as she is not listed in Abner Morgan's description of his fathers family.
