At the time of the 1930 census, three year old Joan can be found in Saline County, Nebraska, with her parents, John and Gertrude Maxon, and older brother, Charles. Her father was a farmer.
The Michigan, Deaths and Burials Index, 1817-1965, show that he was a farmer, and the son of Daniel S. Maxon, born New York, and Louisa D. Wheat, also born New York. FHL Film Number 1008318.
Her memorial page at FindAGrave, created by Melton Durant, links to her parents, Gorham Parsons May (FAG# 35128400), a participant in the Battle of Bexar in 1835, and Matilda Lowe (FAG# 35128454). Both are buried in the Old Zavala Cemetery in Jasper.
Middle name is shown by some as Edith, and by others as Charlotte. The middle initial E. is inscribed on her headstone.
She can be found at the time of the 1930 Census enumeration in the home of Henry and Geneva Mayes, in Jackson County, Lousiana. Lucile, age 5, was their eldest child. Also living in the home was two year old Henry Mayes.
Her obituary said she was the wife of J.W. Duval, brother of the late school inspector E.H. Duval. Information from 1871, 1881 Salisbury Parish records (living with the Cochrans). She was Anglican. Buried at Forest Glen. She was said to be the daughter of Joseph MAYFIELD.
When he registered for the World War I draft, he was a resident of Milan, Tenn, and supporting his wife, one child and a sister. He was of medium heighth and build, with red hair and light blue eyes. His Tennessee Death record shows him as a son of Will Maynard and Miss Mollie Milam, both of Tennesse. He died at the age of 27 of tuberculosis.
Might she be related to the William R. Mayo who is listed on the Roster of Co. D, 10th Texas Infantry, Confederate States of America, organized by William C. Wilson at Fairfield, Freestone County, Texas, as was her husband, John W. McSwane?
His headstone is engraved "He was the sunshine of our home."

White and Toole show that she died ca 1935. Could she have actually died before 1910? Her husband, Jesse Jacks, is listed as widowed as of the 1910 census, married in 1920 but without Stella in the home, and widowed in 1930. They may have simply seperated, as they share a double gravemarker at the Lott Cemetery, and her date of death on this is shown as Sept. 1936.
His Texas Death Certificate shows that he was a son of Alexander Mazy and Lois Ryan. His occupation was shown as Metal Dealer. He had lived in Seminole for 23 years at the time of his death, and was widowed.
Shown in FindAGrave, on a memorial created by SFC Ret Duffie & Kathy Moore, as born in Tucakoosa, Alabama to James McAdams and Elizabeth Levendall. Her date of birth is shown as 1832, and her date of death shown as 1879. Buried at the Clyde Cemetery. If her date of death is correct, it appears she and Charles Darnell separated before her death, as she is not listed in their home at the time of the 1870 census. Additionally, Charles remarried for a third time in June 1879.
On the 1850 Union Parish, Louisiana census, a 16 year old Lucinda McAdams (born ca 1834) can be found in the home of Thomas M. and Nancy McAdams, both born in South Carolina. If Duffie Moore is correct, this is not our Lucinda.

Obituary from the FindAGrave Memorial Page created by Michael and Jennifer McBride.
With her two daughters at her bedside, Billie Krause departed this earthly life Tuesday morning March 15, 2011. Mrs. Krause was born April 9, 1923, to parents George Wesley McBride and Ruth Madeline Moss McBride in Denning, Texas.
Her childhood was spent in San Augustine until she finished high school. After graduating from Business College in Beaumont, Texas, she worked for Western Union in New Orleans. With the coming of World War II she transferred to New York where she met and married her husband of 54 years, Richard Hermann Krause, Jr. After completing his military service Mr. and Mrs. Krause moved their two young daughters to Freeport, Texas, where Mr. Krause worked for Dow Chemical. Her family was completed with the birth of their son in Freeport. Mrs. Krause lived in Freeport for more than 50 years raising her three children and entertaining her four grandchildren.
Mrs. Krause was employed by several children's clothing stores but she always considered her primary role as a wife, mother and homemaker, at which she excelled. Following the death of her husband on 1999, she moved to Nacogdoches in 2004. Mrs. Krause was a faithful and devoted member of the Church of Christ in every location in which she lived. As befitted her life, one of her last conscious acts was assembling to worship God with fellow Christians the last Sunday morning of her life.
Survivors include daughters Martha Emerson Page of Nacogdoches, Mary Louise Jobe and husband Bill of Nacogdoches, son Richard Stuart Krause of Federal Way, Washington; grandchildren Richard Stuart Krause, Jr. and wife Tara of Austin, Kelli Krause Paddock and husband Travis of Renton, Washington, Aaron Jobe and wife Corley of Nacogdoches, Paige Jobe Perez and husband Mike of Waco; great-grandchildren Austin, Cody and Jackson Paddock of Renton, Washington, Piper Jobe of Nacogdoches and Zachary Krause of Austin; sister Betty Barclay of Tyler; brother-in-law J.D. Harkrider of Nacogdoches; sister-in-law Mimi McConnell of North Ft. Myers, Florida, numerous nieces and nephews, and three special cousins; Elton, Thelma, and Winnie Nicholson.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, March 17, 2011, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel. Conducting the services will be Randy Harshbarger of Stallings Drive Church of Christ in Nacogdoches, and nephew Robert Harkrider of Orlando, Florida. Interment will follow at Lower Chireno Cemetery in Chireno, Texas.
Her family will greet friends and loved ones from 5:00m ? 7:00 pm Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors.
Pallbearers will be Rick Krause, Aaron Jobe, Mike Perez, Mike McBride, John Mathews, Mark Mathews, Brad Mathews and Larry Smith.
Condolences may be offered at www.casonmonk-metcalf.com.
His Texas Death Certificate shows him as a retired carpenter, and that he was a son of Walter McBRIDE, born Louisiana, and Mary GREENLEE, born Arkansas.
His FindAGrave Memorial page, created by Michael and Jennifer McBride, contains the following information:
There has been disagreement in the family as to what his middle name was. His social security card says it was Washington, but some members are fairly certain it was actually Wesley.
His WWI Draft Registration record says it was Walker. This is what he swore to and how he signed it so this is what I will go with. It is likely that there was not a birth certificate when he born and he had to obtain a delayed birth certificate when he needed it for Social Security. A delayed birth certificate would have required finding someone who had first hand knowledge of his birth. It is possible he changed his middle name to Washington at that time due to what someone else said for the delayed birth certificate.
FindAGrave also links him to three wives, Pearl PRICE (1890-1918), Ruth MOSS [the widow] Rawson (1892-1924), and Alma (1908-1959). There are also seven children linked to him on that website.

He worked as an operator for 25 years for Union Carbide in Texas City.

His usual occupation was brick mason, in the construction industry, and his parents were shown as W. E. McCampbell and Alpha Proffitt. He was born in Barnard, North Carolina. Informant was Keith F. McCampbell, son.
The biographical information below was copied from the FindAGrave memorial created by J. Lowery, and maintained by "Churchwell":
ROBERT JAMES PEMBROKE McCANTS born October 13, 1812 in South Carolina where he migrated from to Chambers County, Alabama, shortly before 1840 when he was listed in the census as "McCats". He was a physician and prosperous landowner. He was shot dead on Sep. 21, 1849 by his servant, John. It is said that John was paid to do the deed by a rival physician. Dr. McCants was married to Caroline Elizabeth Allen, both are buried in a fenced area at the rear of the Moses Wheat Cemetery.
She appears to have married a Nunley, and been widowed (?) at a young age. At the time of the 1860 Federal Census, she was living with her mother and younger siblings in Chambers County, Alabama. She was listed as Victoria Nunley, age 22, and enumerated without a husband, but with two sons, Wm. Nunley, age 6, born in Georgia, and Toliar/Goliar, age 4, also born in Georgia.
One of her daughters, Cynthia Rudzis writes that Cleo "first married Lester Lafayette Knowles at a very young age and divorced a few years later. She then married Charles Roland Smith which ended in divorce in the early 60's. After she and her sister Deanie (Floyd Burnidean) moved to New Jersey, she met my father, Dominick Anthony Capozzolo. Third time was the charm. They married on October 20th, 1962 in Philadelphia, PA. My mother has three living children. Nancy, from her first marriage. Sharon from her second, and myself. There was also a son from her first marriage, Jimmy, who passed away at age 2....We always lived on the East Coast between New Jersey, Virginia, where I was born, then later Rome, NY, then back to Virginia."
Sharon Larson emailed that Cynthia Suzanne is Cleo's adopted daughter.
Shown, in error, on the 1900 census as daughter Emma, born Nov 1893.

Cynthia Rudzis writes that "Aunt Deannie" was like a second mother to me. Aunt Dean married once that I know of, to a man named Travis Taylor and had two children, Donnie and Patricia. I don't know of Donnie's status, but Patty passed in 1997 or 98. She and Mom moved to New Jersey together in the late 50's and there she met and later married my Uncle Bill Stibi. Aunt Dean was a long time employee of Gimble's in Philadelphia and outside of my Mom, was probably one of the funniest people I ever knew"
Her Social Security account was established in New Mexico.
Cynthia Rudzis states that he married Veree CLARK on 19 Oct 1932, and were the parents of Wayne and Delores. He owned Mac and Son Sporting Goods, and lived into his early 90's.
Her Texas Death certificate indicates she died in childbirth, to to a problem with her anesthesia. The informant was J. C. McCARRELL.
