McDaniel Celebrates 90th Birthday

The family of Lodema Jones McDaniel would like to invite all friends and family to a birthday party honoring her on her 90th birthday. The party will be held at her home in Yellowpine on Sept. 13 (Saturday) from 2 to 5 p.m. No gifts please.

Lodema was born in Yellowpine on Sept. 13, 1913 to Sam and Lorena JONES. On June 3, 1933, she married Wendell McDaniel and they have three children, Frances CANNON of Hemphill, Mike of Corpus Christi, and Janice JONES of Aruba.

She has always been a big part of her church in Beaumont where they lived for the most part of their younger years, but most of all she was and still is a prayer warrior. She still takes pride in how she looks, does some housework, love to eat out and most of all, loves to have company. Her kind heart is evident as she tries to give each visitor something to take home. Lodema has six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Drop by and wish Aunt Lodemma a happy birthday. She will convince you to have a piece of cake.

11551 I36968  Jones  Robert Douglas "Pud"  26 Mar 1951  7 Dec 2015  Robert Douglas Jones has finally made his last effort for attention on December 7, 2015. He was born in Hemphill, TX in 1951 to Thomas James "Chief" and Irene Speights "Snookie" Jones. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, the overly devoted and love of his life Lauren Slattery Jones. He left his good looks and dashing personality to his children:Esther Guerra (Ricky), Caleb Jones (Taylor), and granddaughter Ava Guerra "Puddin". Additionally, he is survived by his siblings, sisters: Jimmie Nixon (Billy), Patricia McBride (Roger), Karen Neal (Tommy), and brother, John Thomas Jones (Janice). Robert is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Don "Nubbin" Jones (Peggy), and sister, Mary Jane Conn (Joe).

He was an avid fisherman and golfer which he was both very good at. If talent and personality were measured in having fun, then he was the best of all time! Robert loved spending time with his wife, family and friends. No matter the occasion, he always found a way to make people laugh and made everyone he came to know a better person. Although not an average life span, Robert didn't live an average life. He traveled where he wanted to travel, would tell jokes at the most inappropriate times, learned what he wanted to learn and became the world's best handy man with duct tape.

Robert's true passion was his work. He truly loved his job and always said that, "If you love your job, then it's not work". He loved the relationships and friends he made over the years and impacted everybody that he spoke with. Robert Jones will be missed but never forgotten and always in our hearts.

Services will be held on Friday, December 11th at 12:00 PM in the chapel of Crowder Funeral Home, 2422 Broadway, Pearland, TX 77581. Robert was very punctual so don't be late! Robert was a casual guy so come wearing whatever makes you happy. A celebration of his wonderful life will follow at Green Tee Country Club. Since Robert loved his rescued English Bulldog, Meatball, in lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to: English Bulldog Rescue Network of Houston, www.ebrnhouston.com.

11556 I21668  Jones  Sarah  Aft 1735  10 Mar 1808  Said to be the daughter of Sugar JONES. (James L. McLemore, III, p 44). Mark Freeman instead shows her as the daughter of Edward JONES and Abigail SUGARS.

Jack White emailed, in September 2016, that: Sarah Jones received a very large land grant on Lee's Branch in Granville Co in 1762 (700 acres). Atkins McLemore (as Adkins McKlemore) received a grant on Lee'a Branch, a tributary of Shocco Creek in that same year, showing Sarah Jones as the adjacent property owner. He believes this Sarah Jones was nee Sarah Franklin, the widow of Capt. Shugan "Sugar" Jones, who had died in 1761, and that it was this "Sarah Jones" who married Atkins McLemore around 1762. He also noted that he had "also located the 1761 will of Sugar Jones and a 1774 division of his estate. There is no mention in either of a daughter, Sarah. Atkins McLemore was one of the executors of that will, along with Sugar's unnamed wife. That, together with the fact that Sarah Jones and Atkins McLemore in 1761 were listed as neighbors in their respective land grants, leads me to believe that McLemore married the widow of his neighbor, Sugar Jones. I've attached the will transcript and the division records." He later added that "she might well have been Sugar's sister, as many researchers believe. The will and estate papers of Sugar Jones, however, make it pretty clear that he did not have a daughter named Sarah, so I think that possibility can be dismissed."
